Hello! My name is Megan Lamont and I am 20 years old in my second year at the University of Victoria studying Elementary Education. I was born in the Cowichan Valley and moved to Victoria at the end of 2024 for school. I love Noah Kahan, baking, reading, the ocean, hiking, travelling, my friends, and my family.
I really wasn’t sure what career I wanted to have when I was older until I started coaching soccer, which is when I discovered my passion for teaching. Even though I knew what I wanted to study in University I still desperately wanted to travel. Instead of going to school I took a gap year out of high school and travelled for 3 months to 20 countries. This experience was absolutely lifechanging, I made friends around the world and got to immerse myself in several different cultures. I am obviously back in school now but travelling will always hold a special place in my heart.
After travelling and immersing myself in others cultures and traditional practices I realized that I wanted to learn more about my own. I have spent a lot of time learning about my Scottish and German roots but I have yet to dive into my Ukrainian background. This is why I wanted to do my inquiry project on creating a Ukrainian recipe book so that I can document my journey about learning the food, culture, and traditions of my family.
